Marcus Ericsson was delighted to see Sauber to be able to fight for points again after a dark year for the Swiss team which had not achieved a single top ten. The Swiss structure seems to have partly recovered since it is ahead McLaren by nine points at two Grands Prix at the end of the season.
The former Caterham resident F1 Team has finished in the points five times this year, posting its best performance in F1 at the Australian GP where it took eighth place. “I didn't really know what to expect (at the start of the season). Sauber is a team with a great history but they had a very difficult season last year. So I didn't really know what it would be like when I arrived. But it exceeded my expectations because we were able to play for points almost in every race”, explained the Swede on the official F1 website.
Marcus Ericsson having been confirmed for 2016 with teammate Felipe Nasr since last July, the Swede approaches the future with confidence, believing that his team will continue to evolve at the same pace. « The situation should be better since the team will be more stable. We now know the working procedures and the mentality that reigns within the team. We are both very involved in the development of the car next year, in particular by discussing with the engineers what we want on the car", said the Scandinavian.
