F1 testing – Wehrlein ahead of Ocon at Red Bull Ring

After a morning wasted by showers blocking drivers in the pits, the race management chose to extend the day by two hours to allow the teams to have sufficient time to carry out their programs. Although part of the tests were carried out on grooved tires, with the rain having returned in the early evening, the teams were able to collect a certain amount of data.

pascal wehrlein (Mercedes) achieved the best time with a lap completed in 1'11"005, thus ahead of version B of the VJM07 ofEsteban Ocon (Force India) by almost 2 tenths. Max Verstappen (Toro Rosso) was the most active with nearly a hundred laps completed and completes the leading trio in front Antonio Fuoco (Ferrari) who saw his day end prematurely when he left the track at the first turn.

Romain Grosjean (Lotus) achieved the 5th fastest time ahead Pierre Gasly (Red Bull). Raffaele marciello (Sauber) follows in 7th place ahead Stoffel vandoorne (McLaren) who was still able to spend some time on the track.

Susie Wolff (Williams) completes the list on the Williams FW37 which had new rear wings. However, these aerodynamic appendages do not seem to be in line with the regulations.
