Engine evolution from Austria at Honda

Honda will not wait before making its first developments on its V6 turbo/hybrid Power Unit which will once again power the AT01sAlpha Tauri and the RB16s of Red Bull Racing. This weekend in Austria, for the effective kick-off of the 2020 World Championship season F1, Japanese engineers will offer new products to the two teams affiliated with the energy drink brand that can count on its block.

Improvements that cannot concern in terms of performance than the MGU-K, the battery and the electronic control box, under the amended technical regulation, introducing the freezing of certain elements from this year. As reported by the F1 website, Honda would have focused on the performance and reliability aspect for this burst of developments.

The Japanese engine manufacturer did not wish to observe the mandatory closure period during the confinement period, and was thus able to continue the development work which had notably enabled Red Bull to win in Austria, Germany and Brazil in 2019 .
