F1-FP2: Hamilton responds to Rosberg at Red Bull Ring

The second practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix allowed Lewis Hamilton to respond to the best time achieved this morning by Nico Rosberg on the Red Bull Ring. Shod on super soft tires, the 2008 world champion completed a lap of the track in 1'09"542 with more than three tenths ahead of his teammate who is closest to the Briton. Fernando Alonso completes the top three again even if this time he is nine tenths behind the first Mercedes the Williams still seem efficient since Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa are the last in the same second.

The Red Bulls are more than a second behind the Silver Arrows with Sebastian Vettel in sixth row and his teammate Daniel Ricciardo in eighth position behind the McLaren of Jenson Button and in front of the car de Kevin Magnussen. Jean-Éric Vergne completes the top ten on his Toro Rosso, his teammate Daniil Kvyat placing 12th behind the Ferrari by Kimi Raikkonen. The Force India are further behind with Sergio Pérez in 13th place and Nico Hulkenberg only 17th. But it is still the Lotuses who seem to be in great difficulty since Pastor Maldonado only achieved the 15th time while Romain Grosjean is only 19th, between the Marussias of Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi.

The final free practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix will be followed tomorrow from 11 a.m. on AUTOhebdo.fr.
