Fernando Alonso: “We are ready”

In Valencia, Fernando Alonso had been more talked about following the affair of the safety car doubled by Hamilton only for its own performances. Despite a Saturday day which saw him qualify in fourth position on the starting grid, the Spanish driver finished ninth, without ever really succeeding in showing the benefit of the changes made to his F10, which became an F10B during the European Grand Prix.

Fifth in the general classification, the double world champion is now 29 points behind the leader, a certain Lewis Hamilton.

“We are arriving at a crucial time in the season, with three races in the space of four weeks, declares the ex-pilot Renault. We are ready, physically and mentally. In Valencia, we introduced many developments to the F10, and there will be even more at Silverstone and during the following races. The development program is very sustained, and I think the results will follow. We have also focused on physical preparation, as the next events are very close to each other, and we will need to be 100% at all times. »

The Grande Brtegane Grand Prix will be an opportunity for Alonso to return to a place where he won in 2006, the year of his second world title with Renault. However, the route would not necessarily seem to suit the characteristics of the car for the Team.

“The circuit seems quite similar to what it was in the past, with many fast curves, which doesn't necessarily suit us, He continues. But the configuration of the F10 seen in Valencia should still help us in these high-speed corners. So it's best to wait and see where we are, but I remain optimistic. Finally, there is always a chance that rain will have a role to play at Silverstone. I would be really surprised if we had a completely dry weekend, but we are ready to face any situation.

Whatever happens, Alonso no longer has the right to make mistakes if he doesn't want to see the drivers move further away McLaren et Red Bull, his sworn enemy Lewis Hamilton in the lead.
