Laurent Red had clearly expressed in our columns its wish to provide updates on the A522 from Imola, on the occasion of the first European Grand Prix of the year. The French team kept its word. There car from Spanish Fernando Alonso will indeed bring a whole new floor.

“There is indeed an updated floor on my car this weekend, confirmed the Bull of Asturias. Obviously, we hope to achieve even more performance. Unfortunately, with the current weather, it will be impossible to test it in Free Practice 1, so we risk arriving at the weekend a little blind. We will probably only know on Sunday whether we have taken a step forward or not.”

Alpine was in fact only able to produce one in time for the Italian race. If the latter turned out to be positive, then the French Esteban Ocon would also have it from the next round scheduled in Miami (United States), the weekend of May 8.
