Fernley: Mallya will only accept 5th place

Force India is preparing for an intense season in 2012. The Indian team's objectives will be difficult to achieve but the VJM05 could be capable of achieving them. Vijay Mallya's orders seem in any case to have been clear.

Fernley: Mallya will only accept 5th place

Force India performed more than convincingly at the end of the 2011 season. The Indian team secured sixth place in the Constructors' Championship and even threatened Lotus-Renault GP which only ended the year four points behind the team?enstone. For 2012, the stated objective is to take this fifth place in the ranking. Bob Fernley, the deputy director of the Indian team, also maintained this ambition during the presentation of the VJM05 at Silverstone, even if he recognizes that this challenge will not be easy to achieve.

« I think the team has now arrived in a position where the rebuilding plan has come to an end and we can aim for new goals.", said Vijay Mallya's right-hand man. “We want to fight with the top four or five teams. I don't think Vijay will accept a lower place than fifth. In a way, I was happy that we didn't finish fifth (last year) because the goal would have been fourth place. It will be difficult, all teams are capable of aiming for fifth position. I think this fight will be as interesting as the fight for victory. »
