Ferrari suspends production due to coronavirus

In the heart of Northern Italy put under lockdown due to the coronavirus epidemic, Ferrari has taken a radical decision by ceasing production on its assembly lines in Maranello and Modena until March 27.

A decision which follows in particular supply concerns and decrees from the Italian government on protective measures against the virus.

Other non-manufacturing activities will continue, while the Scuderia for its part suspends its operational activities, following the cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix, and the postponement of the Bahrain and Vietnam rounds.

“In a time like this, my gratitude goes first and foremost to the women and men of Ferrari who, with their tremendous commitment over the past few days, have demonstrated the passion and dedication that define our brand, comments Ferrari CEO Louis Camilleri.

Along with our suppliers, they ensured the company's production. And it is out of respect for them, for their peace of mind and that of their families that we have decided on this course of action. Our customers and fans are also at the forefront of our minds right now, as we prepare for a strong restart. »

Ferrari is not the only manufacturer to make such a decision, since Lamborghini has closed its Sant'Agata Bolognese premises until March 25. Choice which necessarily impacts the Squadra Corse department, where the Huracan GT3 Evo and Super Trofeo are developed, and also based in Sant'Agata Bolognese.
