Team Williams announced on its social networks on the afternoon of Sunday, November 28: its founder, Sir Frank Williams, died at the age of 79.
It is with great sadness that on behalf of the Williams family, the team can confirm the death of Sir Frank Williams CBE, Founder and Former Team Principal of Williams Racing, at the age of 79.

A former driver, in 1969 he founded one of the most famous teams in Formula 1 still in operation today, first under the name Frank Williams Racing Cars, then in 1977 under the name Williams Grand Prix Engineering. The English boss collected no less than nine Manufacturers' titles and seven Drivers' crowns (Alan Jones in 1980, Keke Rosberg in 1982, Nelson Piquet in 1987, Nigel Mansell in 1992, Alain Prost in 1993, Damon Hill in 1996 and Jacques Villeneuve in 1997) thanks to renowned engine partners like Cosworth, Honda or Renault.
