Frédéric Vasseur leaves Renault Sport F1 Team

While Renault Sport F1 Team continues its work hard on the replacement for the R.S.16, the French team must face at the start of his Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur.

Arriving in the management of the Losange team for the return of Renault as a full-fledged manufacturer last year, Frédéric Vasseur was coming out of a fruitful period with his ART Grand Prix team and had decided to take up the challenge of F1.

Under his leadership, Renault made a contrasting return in 2016, with a ninth place in the championship, but significant in-depth work carried out behind the scenes to re-organize the former Lotus team alongside notably Cyril Abiteboul, director of Renault Sport Racing, who retains his position.

Frédéric Vasseur started as competition director, before being named Team Principal last July, while Cyril Abiteboul joined the premises ofenstone in Great Britain to find a more effective synergy with Viry-Châtillon.

“After a first season dedicated to relaunching and rebuilding its F1 team, Renault Sport Racing and Frédéric Vasseur have decided to part ways by mutual agreement as of today. Both parties wish to maintain the good working relations experienced and hope that this can take a new form in the future. » mentions the Losange press release.

Renault chose to trust the German in 2017 Nico Hulkenberg, whom Vasseur had met in F3 Euro Series and in GP2 at ART, with two titles up for grabs. The French brand will unveil its future single-seater on February 21, just before the start of winter testing in Barcelona.
