Grosjean ensures his qualifications

Romain Grosjean could fear seeing his qualifying series in Q3 being stopped following his fuel pressure problem which prevented him from taking part in the last free practice session in Catalunya. The Lotus driver was unable to prepare for his qualifying and had to quickly get his bearings with the soft tires which had only been used yesterday afternoon. Not content with having saved his tires for the race, the Frenchman set the fourth fastest time ahead of his teammate Kimi Räikkönen. The reigning GP2 Series champion can aim for a very good result tomorrow, with the E20 being quick to get off the grid.

“It was a good performance from the team, especially because I didn't drive in free practice 3 because of my fuel pressure problem”, underlines Romain Grosjean. “We based ourselves on the set-up found the day before and it worked well. Everyone did a very good job to ensure that the car be ready for qualifying. We can be satisfied with this result even if we always want more. I think I could have been a little faster but the margin wasn't big. Tomorrow promises to be a long day. Our race speed doesn't seem bad but we will obviously have to manage tire degradation. »
