Grosjean: the rain was too heavy to ride

Romain Grosjean will no longer be able to continue qualifying for the Italian GP at Monza if they continue this afternoon. The pilot Haas went off the track on the finishing straight just after setting the 3rd provisional time behind Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Sebastian Vettel).

Unhurt, Romain Grosjean expressed his frustration at the microphone of Canal+ by opposing the decision of the commissioners to leave the drivers on the track.

“The conditions are not made for F1 when you crash on the straights, declared Romain Grosjean on the French private channel. We can't take our foot off the accelerator in a straight line because cars can hit us and we can't see anything ahead. I was penalized for not having slowed down sufficiently under a yellow flag and we were launched in these conditions. The new asphalt is too new to absorb water. We had to wait. Pirelli made efforts to improve the wet tires, but it was not enough for these conditions. »
