Grosjean motivated: “Be able to return to Q3”

Romain Grosjean (Haas) approaches the Austrian Grand Prix with more joyful morale compared to previous weeks. On the scene of his best performance with the American team (4nd in 2018), the Frenchman takes stock of the start of the meeting.

“There are things we can still improve so for now it’s a more positive weekend than at Paul Ricard, He explains. I think Haas is better after that Hag failed to get a lap on softs in FP2 and there were quite a few interruptions with red flags. We have worked well in the right direction and we still have good ideas for progress. »

The reason for this positive character lies in the management of the gum. “In the last rounds, we were not exceptional in our use of the tire. I didn't have a great feeling in qualifying.

As much as in the race, things are going very well and I have a good pace, in qualifying I have a little more difficulty. This weekend looks to be a little different. I hope we will be able to return to Q3, place ourselves well and have the right strategy for the race. »

Romain Grosjean likes it on the Red Bull Ring, a 4,3 km circuit with only 10 turns. “This track is not easy and it’s hot. We know that the Pirelli is a tire that sometimes gets a little carried away.

It’s a track that doesn’t have many turns, so to make the difference you have to find the limits. The vibrators are atypical and so much the better I want to say. It’s not a sanitized track, and that’s what we like. » U.S. too !
