F1 2022 Guide – How Lando Norris Woke McLaren

Lando Norris

It's an irony that shouldn't have made you laugh. Lando Norris. The Briton may have made the screen in 2021, but he is nevertheless his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, disappointing throughout the year, which allowed McLaren to return to victory, after more than nine years of drought. It was at Monza and that day, Lando Norris had to settle for the supporting role, to which he ended up becoming unaccustomed. If the young Briton has not yet unlocked his Grand Prix account, he has been the undisputed leader of a McLaren team which has continued to confirm its recovery for three seasons. After having trained for two years, playing more or less on an equal footing with his teammate and friend Carlos Sainz, Norris has taken on a new stature in 2021. To be convinced of this, you only need to analyze the comparison with his Australian teammate, a multiple winner in Grands Prix. The Englishman beat the former driver Red Bullthen Renault by forty-five points, and gave him a stunning 15-7 in qualifying and in the race. So certainly, the Aussie has had a difficult adaptation to his new car, but such domination does not lie.

By stringing together fifteen finishes in the Top 10 between the 2020 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and the 2021 British GP, Norris became the McLaren driver with the most consecutive entries.
