Hamilton: “It’s a lousy circuit for overtaking”

Lewis Hamilton will struggle to achieve a third consecutive victory after Spa and Monza. The pilot Mercedes took only fifth position on the grid for the Singapore GP at Marina Bay where the W08s are struggling, the Briton falling half a second from his rival's pole for the title Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).

“It’s a lousy circuit for overtaking, it’s often a very long train of cars, regrets Lewis Hamilton. The start, strategy and safety cars are opportunities. We will have to play in the long term, it is a marathon and not a sprint. »

Lewis Hamilton risks losing the lead in the Championship after he had just taken control, ahead of Sebastian Vettel by five points.

“We knew it would be difficult when we got here. It's been generally tough every year for us here. I didn't anticipate that Ferrari would be so strong. I don't know how they were able to achieve such speed, but we will have races to follow where we will be fast. THE Red Bull are where I expected them”, adds the three-time world champion.

Lewis Hamilton has two victories at the Singapore GP but he has not won at Marina Bay since 2014. His teammate Valtteri Bottas will start behind him in sixth position.
