Hamilton and Grosjean in support of Russell

Confirmed as a pilot Williams next year last Friday, George Russell was not far from completing a perfect weekend. Thirteenth at the start, the Englishman managed to move up to 10th before the drama eleven loops to the checkered flag.

Virtually in the points, the Williams driver crashed his WF43 at turn 9 while warming up his tires behind the Safety Car. A real blow for the Briton who still has to wait to get his first point in F1.

« I will never forget this day, this mistake. I will learn from it, I will be stronger. I apologize to the team. I have no excuse », wrote a George Russell disappointed on his Instagram account after the race.

With his morale down after this trip, the Briton received the support of some of his counterparts like Romain Grosjean, author of the same accident in 2017 in Baku, or even Lewis Hamilton.

« I recognize this feeling. It's going to take a little time to forget but what you're doing is awesome. Keep giving it your all », replied the first under George Russell's post before being imitated by the six-time world champion.

« George, you were giving it your all. It’s okay to make mistakes and feel the pain. I have committed more than I can remember. You're a great guy. Keep your head up and keep giving it your all. See you at the next race ».
