Hamilton feels the same as in 2008

In the internal struggle Mercedes for the drivers' world title in 2014, one might think that the experience of Lewis Hamilton facing this kind of situation would be an advantage. But the Brit admits to feeling the events the same way as in 2008. “I know I've been in this kind of situation before, and I'm going to try to win my second title, explains the Mercedes driver during an event for a sponsor. But I feel like I'm in the same position as in 2008 when I had to win my first title. It's as if I hadn't experienced this before. Every race is different, just like every season. »

The old pilot McLaren, today second in the championship behind his teammate Nico Rosberg before arriving in Belgium this weekend, believes he has only one fear. “It’s failure. After winning a championship, for me it was a relief, because you worry all year, you think about it non-stop. »

Hamilton's past experience could, however, be an asset in an end to the season which promises to be increasingly tight. The Briton will return to the seat of his W05 Hybrid tomorrow morning for the first free practice sessions at Spa in the Ardennes, and aims to make up for his deficit of 11 championship points over Rosberg on Sunday in the race.
