Hamilton: No reason for good results not to come back

The beautiful series of Lewis Hamilton, returned to the top of the hierarchy of the 2016 world championship after an almost perfect summer, was interrupted when the debates resumed in Belgium. If a podium had rewarded the Briton in the Ardennes, the penalties received for having exceeded the quota of Power Unit elements authorized per season had weighed heavily on the pilot's result Mercedes.

Dominated again by Rosberg in Italy, then in Singapore, where Daniel Ricciardo has once again come between the two W07 Hybrids, Hamilton however remains confident given the course of the season about his chances of regaining the top step of the podium.

“Singapore was a difficult weekend for me, and coming away with a podium in these circumstances is real damage limitation, admits the former pilot McLaren. Nico did an exceptional job and I didn't have my best weekend.

But that's how it is. We are both very competitive. Some weekends he's in front, others it's my turn. It's a combination of things that need to come together to make a good weekend and they're all different. »

On a track where he has not left the podium since 2012 (with a victory in 2014), the Briton hopes to regain the advantage, he who is now eight points ahead in the championship. “I don’t know if it will swing in my favor, or when. But we still have six races to go, so I just have to keep giving my best.

That's all you can do as an athlete. It will take a few good results to get back in front and stay there, but I've had a number of them in the past, so there's no reason to think it won't come back. »

A seventh success in 2016 in Malaysia, home of Mercedes' title sponsor Petronas, would also mark Hamilton's 50th success in F1, and would bring it a little closer toAlain Prost, author of 51 victories in the discipline. The Briton can also score a 100th career podium this weekend.
