Horner explains Ricciardo's missed save

Second behind Lewis Hamilton is certainly not the result that Daniel Ricciardo expected at the finish of the Monaco Grand Prix given his performance during the first part of the race. Fighting with the world champion for first place, the Australian was called back to the pits to cover the Briton's switch to slick tires. But an error of Red Bull Racing cost him precious time, allowing Hamilton to take the lead again.

“When we saw Hamilton stop a lap early and ride ultra-softs, we thought it was a bit tight to reach the finish, explains Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing. We decided to ride super-softs.

There was a communication problem because the team was unaware of this choice. The tires are heated in the garages or behind the garage depending on the types chosen at the start and unfortunately the ones we had just chosen were not within our reach. » The Milton Keynes team has apologized to its pilot after arrival.
