Horner: “I imagine Vettel is as frustrated as we are”

Red Bull missed a great podium opportunity last weekend at the British GP. While Max Verstappen had just taken 3rd place Sebastian Vettel, the pilot Ferrari hit the RB15 of the Dutchman who was miraculously able to save a 5th position.

“It’s obviously very frustrating from our point of view because the incident deprived Max of a guaranteed podium. On which step, I don't really know. Everything would have depended on Valtteri's pace at the end of the race, commented Christian Horner. It’s remarkable that the car was able to hold on and continue with the damage it sustained. It's frustrating because Max had made a nice overtake on Seb but I can only assume that it was a big error of judgment on Seb's part, who blocked the wheels and hit Max. He made a mistake today and we are unfortunately the victims. I imagine he is as frustrated as we are. »

The director of Red Bull Racing was still able to enjoy a superb race with his drivers. Max Verstappen notably delivered an anthology duel with Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).

“The fight between Max and Charles was superb, admitted the Red Bull Racing Team Principal. During the first stint there were some incredible wheel-to-wheel exchanges. At the start, Charles could rely on his faster soft tires but as soon as Max was able to put energy into his tires, he was in his exhausts and put very strong pressure on Leclerc. The Ferrari is very fast in a straight line so difficult to overtake. That didn't dissuade Max from trying his luck. It was entertaining for the spectators. They veered wide several times but it was a good fight..."

Christian Horner also returned to the problem encountered with the rear wing of Max Verstappen's RB15 just before the start of the race.

“One of the mechanics, while inspecting Max’s rear wing, found a crack. We asked to make the change. We checked that of gasly and we found that the same phenomenon was happening so we had permission to change both.", he explained.
