Horner: “The RB14 had the best chassis in the field”

Red Bull never stops criticizing the engine Renault with which it encountered numerous reliability concerns in 2018. If the team of Milton Keynes won 4 victories this year and secured 3rd place in the Manufacturers' Championship, the men of the Taureau Rouge believe that they could claim even better given the potential offered by the chassis.

“The RB14 had the best chassis in the field this year, said Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner on the official F1 website. It’s clear we had a fantastic car this year. These four victories are an incredible result when you take into account the power deficit we had. We were competitive at the start of the year, but we couldn't take advantage of it because reliability was our Achilles heel. We have had too many engine failures this year. »

As before, Christian Horner welcomes the arrival of Honda which will now power the two Red Bull teams.

“It’s on the right track. We have had 11 or 12 withdrawals this year while Lewis (Hamilton) and Sebastian (Hag) only have one. This is the level we want to reach, added Christian Horner. It's always easy to remake the world with "ifs" and "maybes", but the season would have been very different if we could have had 40KW more in the back. In any case, I take my hat off to the staff at Milton Keynes who produced the best chassis ever built. You just have to see how others performed with the same engine to realize the difference. »
