Horner: Red Bull chose Honda for its potential

After several tense years between the two structures, Red Bull has chosen to abandon its partnership with Renault at the end of the year to work with Honda. The stable of Milton Keynes made a bold choice by separating from the engine manufacturer with whom it won four Drivers' titles and four Manufacturers' crowns to recover the one which already supplies the engines of Toro Rosso.

“The situation is roughly similar between the two engines and we reason more in terms of development potential. Renault had a very complicated weekend at Silverstone. Our deficit was glaring, both in attack and defense.", recognized Christian Horner to AUTOhebdo.

“Afterwards, the lack of power was no greater than in the previous rounds, we had the same percentage. The nature of the route made the difference. There is a gap to fill and we have great confidence in Honda given what they have in the pipeline. There is no guarantee, but the progress demonstrated encourages us to believe that, little by little, we will get there...", assured the Red Bull Team Principal.
