Jacques Villeneuve: “Vettel is first and foremost an enthusiast”

The Baku incident between Sebastian Vettel et Lewis Hamilton had caused a lot of ink to be spilled, and brought to light one of the facets of the quadruple German world champion, namely his tendency to sometimes get off his hinges, as was the case last year on certain occasions like in Mexico.

Today at the head of a capital of 14 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton before starting the second part of the season after the summer break, Sebastian Vettel is in a more than interesting position to compete for the world title in British pilot.

The latter should, after the Hungarian defeat, find more favorable tracks for his W08, starting with the Spa route in Belgium at the end of the month.

However, it is with maximum concentration that Vettel will have to continue his good 2017 season, as Jacques Villeneuve recently indicated, before the Hungarian event. “ Vettel is first and foremost an enthusiast, believes the 1997 world champion.

When he's in the car, there's nothing else that matters at that moment and that can actually play tricks on him. He's a guy who is very focused on what he does, maybe even a little too much.

In fact, if there must be danger, it is not in the recurrence of a Baku-type incident, but more in the fact that he will tire. It is very difficult to maintain this level of concentration for an entire season. Especially since it is long. »
