Jenson Button wants to find his number 1

With the title of Sebastian Vettel Sunday, there are now five drivers from the 2010 field? and, normally, 2011? who have the status of World Champion. So, next year, Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso, Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Sebastian Vettel will represent 12 world titles!

For Jenson Button, who will no longer ride with the No. 1 on his car, this loss sounds like a boost in motivation. “ When you lose that number 1, it makes you want to fight even more to get it again. This is how I will approach the next season », confides the pilot to us McLaren.

Wanting to get back into the fight for the world title next season, the Briton is happy with his last race of the year, a sign of a good season with McLaren. “ It feels good to get back on the podium at the end of the season. It wasn't easy on Saturday but the race went very well. It's a great way to end the year, I'm happy with my first season with McLaren. »

But, apart from the motivation it provides when you lose it, Jenson Button believes that this number 1 is not that important. “ Letting go of number 1 is not very pleasant. But, in fact, we forget number 1 a little when we ride. When I put on my helmet, I no longer think about it. You see it from time to time when you approach your car but it doesn't make you any different. »
