Powerless in the United States a fortnight ago when its A521 gave up in the race, Esteban Ocon set down his bags in Mexico with new ambitions. In the tough in Austin, the Norman was more at ease in Mexico this Friday where he carried out long-term work, particularly in EL2, to better adjust his car for the rest of the weekend.

« We had a productive day on track and we can be satisfied with that, indicates the pilot Alpine. The asphalt was a little dirty during the first stint but it improved as the day went on. It’s a different challenge compared to the last race (United States Grand Prix) with other conditions and factors to take into account but that's what we like as drivers. It's about trying different things to find the right setting. We had a good start to the weekend and we plan to rest on it. The car was good in both sessions and, as always, we have work to continue to improve it »

Forced to retire in the United States, Esteban Ocon finished 9th and 14th in Friday's practice sessions. However, satisfied with the work done with the team despite the gap with the leading car, the Normand is now aiming for a finish in the Top 10 to allow Alpine to maintain Alpha Tauri at a distance in the fight for 5th place among the Manufacturers.
