“Testgate” judgment: Mercedes washes its hands

Mercedes does very well afterwards of the verdict pronounced by the FIA International Tribunal in the case of private tests carried out with Pirelli. As she suggested at the end of her hearing on Thursday, the German team will receive the sole sanction of exclusion during the three days of youth testing which is to take place in July. “The Mercedes Amg Petronas team notes and accepts the decision of the FIA International Tribunal published today”, expresses the German firm.

According to the team, this verdict completely exonerates them. “The decision of the FIA International Tribunal confirms that the team acted in good faith with regard to the Pirelli tests, and never attempted to obtain the slightest advantage in an unsportsmanlike manner and had no reason to believe that the Approval for Pirelli testing had not been given. » The Brackley team now wants to turn the page. “We would now like to close this topic and focus on the British and German Grand Prix, which are two important home races for our team.”
