F1 lacks spectacle

The Bahrain Grand Prix, the first race without refueling in ages, has barely finished when some players in the world of racing Formula 1 are already offering solutions for a revival of spectacle. Indeed, if the quick pit stops were not unpleasant to watch, the overtaking was not obvious during the race. Only the rear of the peloton, with single-seaters with hesitant performance, was animated by a few overtakes, before the mechanical weakness of the Red Bull de Sebastian Vettel does not lead to position changes in the top positions.

Failure of the new regulations? It is too early to say but this lack of spectacle has not gone unnoticed. Martin Whitmarsh, team principal of McLaren, is already proposing to review the regulations to improve the spectacle during the races. The Briton thus demands a minimum of two pit stops per driver during a Grand Prix, in order to give a better appearance to the races.

In addition, the boss of the Woking team suggests that Bridgestone provide an ultra-soft tire capable of deteriorating much more quickly than the "super soft" tires from Bahrain. Indeed, with tires wearing out more quickly, tire choice strategies would take on more importance and tire failures of certain drivers could cause overtaking situations. From the first race of the year, F1 already wants to change its rules. In the public interest.
