FIA rules Red Bull RB8 illegal

Mercedes, McLaren et Ferrari had lodged a complaint with the FIA after noting a notch placed on the flat bottom of the RB8 near the rear wheels. The Austrian team said it was calm and convinced of the legality of the system in the face of the regulations which nevertheless stipulate that no hole can be on the surface of the flat bottom, but it ultimately turns out that Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber will no longer be able to have this development for the rest of the season from the Canadian Grand Prix.

However, this development visible from the Bahrain Grand Prix allowed Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber to each win an event. The FIA, however, decided that no result would be called into question. Red Bull therefore retains its two successes in Bahrain and Monaco as well as its first place in the Manufacturers' Championship.
