The Lotus E22 drove “without any major problems” at Jerez

The Lotus E22 took to the Jerez track last Friday and Saturday. Renault Sport F1 absolutely needed to work in real conditions on the 6l turbo/hybrid V1.6 following the multiple problems encountered by its customer teams during the first test session. After pretexting a promotional film shoot to spread the news car from Esntone, the results seem rather positive according to the report of the team which was authorized to carry out a 100km ride.

“We finished the session before 16pm last Saturday due to restrictions on a promotional event.”, explains Alan Permane, director of track operations for Lotus F1 Team. “The chassis and the new Renault engine worked without any major problems. Pastor (Maldonado) adapted very quickly. The design and build quality of the car represent further progress made on the foundations of the successful E21 in 2013. We plan to carry out a full testing program in Bahrain (February 19-22) where we will begin to see the potential of our new package. »

Renault Sport F1 would have notably tested developments made during and after the Jerez tests on the Lotus E22 which was driven by the new Venezuelan recruit of Lotus F1 Team.
