Dr. Marko confirms Kvyat's departure

The US GP where Daniil Kvyat completed the top ten could well be the Russian's last race. As we announced to you in issue 2136 of AUTOhebdo, Red Bull plans to leave Brendon Hartley next to Pierre Gasly for the last three races of the season. The official Porsche driver leading the WEC has already been confirmed this weekend for the Mexican Grand Prix contested at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Dr. Helmut Marko indicated on Auto Bild that the Red Bull no longer had plans for Daniil Kvyat, with the future seemingly looking towards Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley.

“Kvyat will not come back. We don't think he will be able to turn things around in the long term. Gasly and Hartley will finish the season. We will see later », commented the head of the Red Bull Junior Team.

Daniil Kvyat has scored two podiums in his career in F1 at the 2015 Hungarian GP and the 2016 Chinese GP. His best result this season is two 9th places in Australia and Spain. His departure comes just after that of Carlos Sainz Jr left to join the ranks of Renault. Toro Rosso would therefore end the year with a completely different crew compared to the start of the season.
