The new alliance between Alfa Romeo and Sauber F1 Team had kept the secret until this Saturday, December 2, when a presentation of the team was organized, in the presence in particular of Chase Carey, boss of F1, Jean Todt, president of the FIA, or even Sergio Marchionne, at the head of Ferrari and FIAT, parent company of Alfa.
The identity of the Swiss team's drivers has been revealed with confirmation of Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson as starters for the next 2018 season.
The young Monegasque comes off a successful FIA campaign F2 with the title obtained with the Italian structure Prema Racing. The Ferrari Driver Academy resident will therefore make his racing debut next year, after having been a reserve driver. Haas F1 Team then Sauber.
Marcus Ericsson, who benefits from significant financial support from the owners behind Sauber, will continue a fourth year in the colors of Hinwil. A time expected to be holder, Antonio Giovinazzi will be the third driver of the structure led by Frédéric Vasseur.
Sauber F1 Team also presented a livery concept of its car this morning, with a dominant white accented with red on the engine cover, which features the Alfa Romeo logo.
