Leclerc wakes up Maranello to the sound of the Ferrari SF1000

Charles Leclerc has often repeated: he's not really a morning person. The Monegasque, however, had to relax early this Thursday, June 18, to take the wheel of the Ferrari SF1000, the car that he will drive during the 2020 season of Formula 1

Departing from the Officina Classiche department, the historic heart of the Maranello factory, Ferrari's new strongman then crossed the legendary portal through which Enzo Ferrari had passed during the presentation of his first car in 1947, the 125 S.

Leclerc then meandered through the streets of the Prancing Horse stronghold, a first in the modern era. His morning trip concluded at Fiorano, Ferrari's private circuit since 1972. The run had a more symbolic value since the Scuderia cannot test its 2020 single-seater competitively.

The aim of the ride was to celebrate the real resumption of activities in Maranello after a forced shutdown of several months due to the Coronavirus pandemic which did not spare Italy.

« I may have woken up a few people but it was great riding the streets of Maranello, commented Leclerc. I felt like I was home again when I got on board. ».

Next stop for the SF1000: Spielberg and the first free practice session of the Austrian Grand Prix.
