F1 teams mobilize against Coronavirus

A cutting-edge industry par excellence, Formula 1 has extraordinary technological resources which can prove very useful in these times of the Coronavirus pandemic.

A collective of stables based in the United Kingdom has responded to the call from the government and other British organizations to develop medical equipment, in particular respiratory assistance devices, and respond to the unprecedented health crisis which is hitting the world.

All Formula 1 teams have exceptional capabilities in the design, design and rapid production of ultra-specialized prototypes. And these skills can find new fields of application in order to respond to the current emergency.

Contacted by AUTOhebdo Earlier in the week, the English teams involved told us that they were still at the feasibility study stage and should communicate more details in the coming days.

Last Tuesday, the Agnelli family, which notably controls Fiat and Ferrari, had addressed a donation of 10 million euros to the Italian civil protection department and purchases 150 ventilation devices abroad

Few years ago, Williams Advanced Engineering, the industrial arm of the Grove-based racing team, had drawn on its F1 know-how to develop a carbon fiber pram, the Babypod 20, intended to transport seriously ill infants.

In 2016, Williams also worked with a major hospital in Cardiff, Wales, to use high-speed, choreographed F1 pit stop techniques to resuscitate newborn babies.

Often criticized for its negative carbon footprint and frivolous image, Formula 1 also enables the development of cutting-edge technologies that can be transferred to other areas and prove vital in times of crisis.
