Toto wolff despite being extremely cautious, ensuring that miracle solutions do not exist, expectations nonetheless remain very high among Mercedes, when bringing aggressive developments this weekend towards Monaco. As a reminder, the Brackley team is supposed to modify the front suspension of its W14, in addition to bringing new sidepods and a revised floor. The objective? Gradually trying to return to the forefront, while it is clearly behind compared to Red Bull, and even behind Ferrari in pure performance since 2022. Without even talking aboutAston Martin, 2nd in the championship in 2023.
Initially, all these new parts were to be inaugurated near Imola last weekend, on a traditional circuit which would have allowed the brand with the star to immediately know to what extent its developments bring performance or not. . In the pit lane this Thursday, the brand with the star did not hesitate to reveal a few pieces of bodywork, notably displaying its engine cover and its pontoon casings on trestles. The “zero sidepod” concept seems to have lived, since the sidepods of this W14 this time seem very distinct and discernible. Here are the first photos, while waiting for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell take to the track on Friday for Free Practice 1 and 2.
