Lewis Hamilton, 2nd in Hungary: “More and more comfortable”

Lewis Hamilton finished 2nd in the Hungarian GP / DPPI

The podiums come one after the other for Lewis Hamilton ! The seven-time British world champion once again delivered a very high level performance to finish second in the Hungarian Grand Prix, interposed between the winner Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and his Mercedes teammate George Russell. The Briton once again found consistent performance at the wheel of the W13, so rebellious and difficult at the start of the season. “ I don't know where our speed comes from. We struggled at the start of the race, but I held on to catch up with the leaders, reveals Lewis Hamilton. I was becoming more and more comfortable with the balance of the car. I really want to mention my team, they keep attacking and don't give up. It’s been a very difficult year so far for us. But being able to get back on the podium once again, with our two cars, shows that we are getting closer. We are clearly at the limit, but we are closing the gap we have with the teams in front of us. We can't wait to attack the 2nd part of the season.«

In addition to the procrastination of the low wall Ferrari, which completely missed its choice of tires for its drivers, the Mercedes drivers seem to have taken advantage of the cool conditions in Hungary, while Friday, almost scorching, was very difficult for the Silver Arrows. What is there to hope for better performances for Lewis Hamilton for the second part of the season? “ It's true that slightly cooler conditions help our cars, I don't know why, underlines Lewis Hamilton. I could have come back to Max at the end of the race. But with a better qualifying session, and a DRS that works, it could have gone even better. For the break, I'm going to train, refocus, refocus and come back even stronger.«
