First major twist in Bahrain for the second Grand Prix of the 2018 season. Mercedes will have to replace the gearbox on the W09 n°44 of Lewis Hamilton.
A change of element occurring before the sixth consecutive Grand Prix with this box, which will automatically result in a five-place penalty on the starting grid for the event scheduled for this Sunday.
The world champion team confirmed that a hydraulic leak had been detected in Melbourne, with Hamilton “lucky to finish the race” as Mercedes points out.
