Free 2: Sutil by default

As earlier in the day, the drivers met a Suzuka circuit plunged into drizzle, with humidity in the air above 95%. But, this time, it was the downpours that fell on the circuit, allowing only the installation laps of the two drivers Toro Rosso, Jaime Alguersuari and Sébastien Buemi. More, nothing more for almost an hour. The pilots are forced to go around in circles in their box while waiting for the flood to end.

It was after an hour of session that Fernando Alonso initiates the movement by performing his installation lap, then Jaime Alguersuari imitates him and sets the first time after 63 minutes of session. The two Spaniards are joined by Romain Grosjean then the majority of pilots. Only Heikki Kovalainen and the two Brawn GP drivers did not set reference times.

Fernandon Alonso set the best time (1:48:693), before Sébastien Buemi took the lead at the end of the session (1:48:691). Kazuki Nakajima finally thinks about taking the lead in front of his audience (1) but it is ultimately Adrian Sutil who takes the lead and achieves the best time of the session (48). However, after these two rainy sessions, the teams were not able to work as much as usual. Saturday, if the weather turns out to be good, the drivers will have their work cut out for them.
