Lotus: Trulli on pole

Of the four teams to arrive in Formula 1, Lotus F1 Racing is one of only two to have not confirmed any driver names. However, Tony Fernandes confirmed what he had already said several days ago, namely that he must choose two drivers from a list of four names. Two pilots are known, they are Jarno Trulli and Fairuz Fauzy.

In addition, the team boss confided that Jacques Villeneuve was not included on his short list. However, the Canadian has increased his contacts in recent weeks in order to find a place in F1. The driver had notably been seen at Lotus Cars and had confided that he was training intensively to find a physical condition in line with the life of an F1 driver.

As for Lotus, Jarno Trulli has seemed to be in pole position to join the team for several weeks but the official announcement is slow in coming. His links with Mike Gascoyne should be favorable to him in this regard. To support this thesis, Tony Fernandes declared, on the sidelines of the Motorsport Business Forum in Monaco, that Lotus preferred to pay good drivers rather than recruit paying drivers.

« I hope to be able to announce the composition of the crew next week “, said Tony Fernandes.
