Max Chilton clarifies the situation at Marussia

A few minutes ago, Marussia surprised everyone somewhat announcing the replacement of Max Chilton by the young 22-year-old American and reserve pilot, Alexander Red for the Spa-Francorchamps race this weekend in Belgium. An announcement all the more surprising as the press release only mentioned vague contractual problems. Chilton quickly issued a press release to clarify the situation.

“Max Chilton voluntarily gave up his place for this weekend at Spa in Belgium to allow the team to attract more necessary financial funds by selling the vacant seat. Max will indeed be present in Belgium and will attend the race, while helping the team as best he can. Marussia is in discussions with several new investors and the team hopes the situation will return to normal before the next race on the calendar at Monza. »

The financial situation of the team led by John Booth would therefore be rather delicate. Jules Bianchi will therefore see the young Rossi supporting him this weekend, without having the certainty of seeing Max Chilton again at Monza, the press release not specifying anything of the sort.
