Max Verstappen: “Happy to have been able to fit between the Mercedes”

Max Verstappen once again showed that he was the only one on the grid who could stand up to the Mercedes. In Montmelo, the pilot Red Bull couldn't do anything about Lewis Hamilton but he managed to get ahead Valtteri Bottas from the start to finish in front of him at the finish. Great satisfaction.

« We are very happy to have been able to get between the two Mercedes today. It's very good for us. Unfortunately, we clearly didn't have the pace of Lewis (Hamilton) so I'm happy to be second at the finish.

It was crucial to position yourself in front of Valtteri (Bottas) during the race. Afterwards it was up to me to do the best of myself ».

As for the tires, the Dutchman admitted to having had some fears even if he was ultimately able to maintain his second place at the end.

« When Valtteri came out on new tires (after his 2nd stop, editor’s note.) I expected to be under his threat. In the end he didn't manage to get back on me so I'm satisfied with this second set of tires ».
