McLaren talks with Renault for 2018

McLaren is currently considering whether it will continue with Honda in 2018. The Woking team, lacking performance and reliability, must now fight to keep Fernando Alonso in his ranks, the Asturian losing patience with his MCL32 still unable to aim for the podium on a regular basis.

Zak Brown, the executive director of McLaren, confirmed on Sky Sports that the British structure was in discussion with Renault in the event of a partnership for 2018. The management of Renault Sport Racing, notably Cyril Abiteboul, Jerome Stoll and Alain Prost were seen this Friday September 1st in the McLaren motorhome.

" It's very complicated, confirmed Zak Brown, discussing the state of discussions with engine manufacturers for 2018. There are many pieces to this puzzle. Some are under control, others not. If everything was in order, we would have a decision to make or an announcement to make, but we face some challenges. This is probably one of the biggest decisions McLaren has to make. We have no agreement at the moment. »

McLaren also depends on the choices of other teams. Toro Rosso would consider upgrading to Honda's Power Unit.
