Montezemolo criticizes Alonso's lack of teamwork

The podcast of the F1 granted to Luca di Montezemolo was tasty in anecdotes concerning the passage of Fernando Alonso in Ferrari. The former president of the Italian brand returned to the failure to recruit the double world champion who failed to put the Prancing Horse back on the road to success despite his five seasons in Red.

“It was unlucky to be at Ferrari when Red Bull was about the level of Ferrari in the early 2000s, admitted the Italian businessman. I hate to say it, but he was unlucky. He lost the title in Brazil in 2012 when Sebastian (Hag) crashed with (Bruno) Senna or in 2010 when the team made a big mistake and he lost the coronation in the last race (in Abu Dhabi) when a 4th place was enough. »

“There’s another element: his character. The biggest difference with Michael (Schumacher) or Niki (Lauda), it was Alonso and not Alonso – Ferrari. He was happy when he won, but he was unhappy when he didn't win. He’s someone less close to the team than Michael and Niki were. This is especially valid in difficult times because it is easy to be close when it is easy. »

Fernando Alonso commented on the F1 podcast, saying on Twitter that Luca di Montezemolo “never said that, especially after scoring 80% of (the) team’s points.”
