Norris returned to the UK to have his chest pain examined

Professional pilots are so well prepared physically these days and F1 look so “simple” to handle from the outside that we may tend to underestimate the physical challenge involved in carrying a car Grand Prix at the limit.

Last weekend in Austria, Lando Norris was clearly reduced by chest pain which particularly handicapped him in the braking zones. Helped by painkillers, the pilot McLaren managed to overcome the suffering to achieve another convincing result by taking 5th place in the Styrian GP at the cost of a fantastic finish with 3 overtakes in the last two laps.

Did he take advantage of the few days of rest between Austria and Hungary to precisely identify the illness that was bothering him at the time? Red Bull Ring and fix it?

“The pain didn't go away overnight but I feel much better this week. Norris said this Thursday from the Hungaroring. I returned to the UK in recent days for tests and scans.

I'm suffering from bruises because it's been a long time since I drove an F1 car for so many laps. We couldn't really predict that this was going to happen before the first weekend of competition.”

With a 3rd Grand Prix in a row to manage for the organization this week, Norris did not rule out the possibility of experiencing similar inconvenience again on the Hungarian turnstile.

“I feel good at the moment but it’s hard to know if that will be confirmed when I get back behind the wheel and take the car to the limit.”, concluded the Briton.
