Philippe Bianchi: “Jules will not give up. »

The family of Jules Bianchi, who was injured during the Japanese Grand Prix and still hospitalized in serious condition at Yokkaïchi hospital, had remained very discreet for a week. Philippe Bianchi, father of the 25-year-old French driver, however, spoke to our colleagues at Gazzetta Dello Sport.

" It's hard. In one week, this family's life was destroyed. What are we doing here? We are living a nightmare in a place very far from home. But when Jules' health improves, we can transfer him, perhaps to Tokyo and things will be a little easier. But who knows when that will happen. If this will happen. We don't know for certain, we just have to wait. The people here are lovely, but no one speaks English. The situation is desperate. Every time the phone rings, we know it could be the hospital telling us that Jules is dead. First they said the first 24 hours were crucial. Then it became the first 72 hours and we are still here with Jules, fighting. He will succeed in the most important qualifying round of his life. He won't give up, I'm sure of that. I can see him. I believe him. I am talking to him. I know he hears me. His doctors told us that it is already a miracle, no one has ever survived such an accident. But Jules won't give up. His trainer Andrea says that if there is one person who can achieve it, with his will, it is Jules. »

Philippe Bianchi, who did not wish to see the amateur video of the accident, also wanted to thank the world of motorsport for the outpouring of solidarity which was created after the Japanese Grand Prix. "I've never seen anything like this, He explains. This touched us very deeply. We thank each and every one of them. Several of them have been in contact, writing to me: Alonso, Vergne, Massa sent strong messages, Hamilton wrote me a beautiful letter in which he said that if there is anything he can do, he is there. Red and Marquez Moto GP also. We are sure that all this love, this energy, Jules can feel it. »

The case of Michael Schumacher also became a “landmark” for Jules Bianchi’s family. "I was wondering, like everyone else: 'Why don't they tell us how he's doing?' » But now I'm in the same situation, and I understand. Everyone keeps asking me how Jules is but I can't answer, there is no answer. It's very serious, but he's stable. One day it seems a little better, other days it's worse. The doctors don't speak. The damage caused by the accident is very serious, but we do not know how it will develop. For Schumacher, it took months to come out of the coma. Jean Todt said he hopes Michael will one day be able to have a normal life. One day, I hope we can say the same thing for Jules. »
