Maybe it wasn't the seat he was hoping for but Pierre Gasly will have to be content with it until 2023. After proclaiming his desire to join a top team, the Frenchman was finally confirmed at Alpha Tauri until the end of his contract next season. So before moving towards another team, the Norman can now concentrate 100% on the end of his time with the Italian team.

« I'm really happy that everything is settled and everything is clear so that there is no more speculation about my future and I know where I'm going to be for the next 18 months. “, says the Norman. In recent months, the disappointing performance of Daniel Ricciardo in McLaren had increased rumors of a potential arrival of the Habs alongside Lando Norris. Pierre Gasly could also envisage a return to the parent team but the extension of Sergio Pérez at Red Bull came to block this option.

« Now I got my first opportunity in Formula 1 thanks to Red Bull and Toro Rosso. I had my first victory in F1 with them and that's always the goal. We still have the next 18 months together to get as many podiums as possible », Announces Pierre Gasly. It was in 2017 that the Norman had his first experience in Formula 1 in Malaysia. That year, Toro Rosso called on the Frenchman to replace Daniil Kvyat.

Since this first Grand Prix, Pierre Gasly has gone through a roller coaster ride under the auspices of the Austrian brand. The best moment of his five years of collaboration in Formula 1 remains his victory at Monza. A performance that he intends to reproduce in the next 18 months. “ Why not another race victory if we have the performance and if it is achievable. I'm excited for what's happening with the team and we'll see what happens », concludes Pierre Gasly. This season, victory still seems complicated to achieve. The Habs obtained their best performance in 2022 at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix (June 12) with 5th place.
