For several races, Alpha Tauri goes through a roller coaster. If the Italian team is capable of getting 5th place in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, it can also disappoint as in qualifying in Monaco with an elimination in Q1 and Q2. In Canada, Pierre Gasly et Yuki tsunoda were unable to bring home any points with the Japanese's accident and the Frenchman's 14th place. So, two weeks later, all teams are on deck to correct the situation. But the Italian team does not expect miracles on British soil.

« We'll have to see how we get on, because to be honest, evaluating our car we know we're lacking a bit of aero and we can expect to face a weekend that might not be easy for us », Announces Pierre Gasly.

The Habs still remain on the lookout for opportunities at Silverstone. “ We will continue to do everything in our power to get the most out of the package we currently have, while waiting for some improvements that will arrive soon, exposes the AlphaTauri driver. For now, we have to be ready to seize every opportunity that comes our way, even if on paper Silverstone will be tricky for us. »

AlphaTauri had already missed its race last year

Already in 2021, AlphaTauri had failed to find the right settings. In Great Britain, Yuki Tsunoda brought his team the only point of the weekend by finishing one place ahead of his teammate (11th). “ In terms of speed, the new cars will be a little slower than last year's. But we are going to produce the same times as we have seen in the past », Explains the Japanese.

Yuki Tsunoda nevertheless hopes that the three free practice sessions will allow AlphaTauri to achieve its objectives. “ Based on what we saw in Azerbaijan, it's going to be a little easier to overtake at Silverstone this year than before. Our goal, like every time, is to try to get to Q3 on Saturday and score points. I think it could be a difficult race with our package but if we manage to have consistent times in free practice it would help us a lot. “, says the 22-year-old pilot. With the confirmation of Pierre Gasly until 2023 and the improvement of Yuki Tsunoda, the signs are green at AlphaTauri to fill the delay on Alfa Romeo and Alpine by 24 and 27 points respectively.
