Piquet Jr leaves Renault F1

The ouster of Nelson Piquet Jr was nothing more than an open secret in the paddock. His last chance was in Hungary, while the Brazilian benefited from the same car, in all respects, than that of Fernando Alonso. But, author of a twelfth place at the end of the race, the son of the three-time world champion was not more convincing. The Franco-British team therefore notified him of its ouster with immediate effect.

« I received a notification from the team Renault F1, who no longer wants me to drive for her this year, says Nelson Piquet Jr in a press release. I want to say thank you to the small group of people who supported me and with whom I worked at Renault. But it was with great disappointment that I received this news. But, at the same time, I feel a sense of relief after the worst period of my career. I now want to get my career back on track and regain the reputation of a driver who goes fast and wins. »
