Pirelli changes the compound of its hard tire

It will be more " sustainable ". Pirelli has just announced that it will change the compound used for the orange P-Zero tire, the hardest that the tire manufacturer provides. Formula 1, from the next Grand Prix in Barcelona. “After evaluating the performance of the tire during the first four races, we decided, in consultation with all the teams, to change the hard compound starting in Spain, as we did in Barcelona two years ago when we introduced a new type of hard tire for the rest of the season”, explains Paul Hembery, director of Pirelli Motorsport. “The latest version of our hard compound is closer to that of 2012, with the aim of giving teams more opportunities for strategies in combination with the other compounds, which remain unchanged”.

No change, therefore, to the softer tires, despite the complaints of several teams, notably Red Bull. Furthermore, the Italian company revealed the tires selected for the next three events: in Spain, hard and medium tires were chosen. In Monaco, these are the yellows (soft) and the reds (super soft), i.e. the two softest compounds from the manufacturer. Finally, the super softs and mediums will be used in Canada.
