Pirelli learned its lesson at the Russian GP

After offering medium and soft tires and seeing Nico Rosberg complete the entire race with a set of tires (after a stop at the end of the first lap), Pirelli changed its choice compared to 2014 by opting for soft and super tires. tenders at the Russian GP played this October 11 in Sochi.

“We chose to nominate these two mixtures in order to return to a more traditional pattern of two or three stops during the race, which remains our wish at each event”, explained Paul Hembery, Pirelli sporting director. “Nevertheless, despite the evolution of simulation technology, the teams, like us, will continue to further deepen our knowledge of the constraints imposed by this route. It is made up of a wide variety of turns which will allow drivers to extract maximum grip from the extra-soft tyres. »

Pirelli expects a performance gap of eight tenths to one second per lap between the two types of rubber.
