Red Bull and Alpha Tauri to sport special liveries at Turkish Grand Prix

Red Bull and Alpha Tauri have announced that they will run with special liveries during the Turkish Grand Prix this weekend, in tribute to the engine manufacturer of the two teams, Honda. The Japanese brand should have celebrated this weekend at Suzuka, its last home race before retiring from the world of Formula 1.

He is dressed all in white Red Bull will sport this sixteenth race weekend in Türkiye! As a tribute to its collaboration with Honda since 2019, the Austrian team wanted to mark the occasion, for what should have been the last home Grand Prix of the Japanese brand in Formula 1. For its part, Alpha Tauri will reveal on its rear wing a message of thanks to the illustrious Japanese engine manufacturer.

Homage to the famous Honda RA272 from 1965

In a world where Covid-19 did not exist, Red Bull, AlphaTauri and Honda were to celebrate this weekend at Suzuka, the Japanese engine manufacturer's last Grand Prix on home soil. But with the health situation still as delicate in the land of the Rising Sun, Formula 1 has simply decided tocancel the appointment (for the second year in a row), and to finally go to Turkey, for a race which should, we hope in any case, keep all its promises.

On the sidelines of this race, the Red Bull group still wanted to pay tribute to the illustrious Japanese brand, whose prowess in the championship has been countless since its arrival in 1964. Inspired by the famous Honda RA272 driven by the American Richie Ginther and winner of the brand's first Grand Prix in 1965 in Mexico, Red Bull will sport a car exclusively dressed in white at Istanbul Park. As for Pierre Gasly and his teammate Yuki tsunoda at AlphaTauri, they will display on their rear wing a thank you message in the engine manufacturer's native language: ありがとう (literally arigato, meaning “thank you”).

As a reminder, Honda will withdraw from the world of Formula 1 at the end of the 2021 season, although Red Bull has managed to reach an agreement to continue to use the Japanese brand's engines over the next few years.

The first photos of the Red Bull and Alpha Tauri single-seaters will be revealed during the day on Thursday, just before the first free practice sessions for the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix.
